When visiting London I caught myself thinking that British Wordle fans must be feeling a bit uneasy since the classic puzzle doesn’t include UK English words, only their US variations. I set a goal to build a Wordle Game UK version, which takes into account vocabulary, morphology, spelling and grammar.

My daughter told me there are 380+ million native speakers of English and more than 70+ million speak UK English. Huge army of Wordle followers!

And here it is! His majesty UK Wordle Unlimited! I took the British English edition of the dictionary which contains ~275,000 words, and ~1,800 words belong to the group called “British spelling”.

How to Play Wordle Unlimited UK Edition

The objective of the game is to find or guess the word in six attempts.

Every time you put forward your guess, enter a valid word with a relevant number of letters as required per the game grid. Click Enter to check your submission.

There are colour indicators for the word tiles. They stand for the following:

• Green tiles mean correct letters in the correct positions.

• Yellow tiles tell you that the letter is correct, but you should look for a different position.

• Grey (not gray!) tiles show that you missed the sport completely, these letters are not used in this game session.

Enter the first word:

Go ahead with any word with 5 letters. Simple and real words with different commonplace letters. Enter the word and click Enter to check it.

As I wrote above, these colours give you hints as to how to move with the letters further.

Grey is not your friend, yellow is your acquaintance, but in the wrong location, and green is your family member to cherish.

Hint 1. Open the letter.

You can choose any spot and open the hidden letter there. Having the first letter, for example, makes it much easier to guess the word.

I prepared sentences with the hidden Wordle words. It can help you understand the context and guide you in the right direction with your guesses.
